To make sure that sporting ambition didn’t get lost amid all that Zen, the New Year’s Swim, just like in previous years, was held as a competition in three categories:
- Penguin – fastest time > Winner: Andreas Harting
- Seal – fastest time in a non-regulation way > Winner: Katrin Eckhold
- Yoda – longest time in the water > Winner: Eva Goeb-Cribb
In addition to the winners, the following swimmers were also in the water: Eric Hall, Joachim “Jochen” Rabe, Rolf Hofmann, Jochen Eckhold, Flora Geske, Till A. Kaestner, Sandra Stracke, Tim Stracke, Lena Schmackler, Andreas Schmackler, Michael D. Pilzek, and Felix Hummel.
Beyond the individual challenge, the focus was on giving back: more than €3,000 were collected and donated to HateAid and the Feldafing water rescue service.
